Default How do you interpret your personal political use of the term "teabagger"?

When you refer to TEA Party members as "teabaggers", do you intentionally connect the crude sexual connotation? Or, are you giving it a new, popular interpretation as a group affiliated to using tea bags as a prop?

I don't think a lot of Tea Party members are aware of the sexual connotation, as that's more popular with the younger gaming community that spawned its pop culture placement. However, I interpret things in context. If someone refers to Tea Party members as teabaggers, I think of the Tea Party.

When I see the term in use it always makes me think that it is used as a derogatory term in order to anger those with whom the poster disagrees politically.

I need to research it. I know the word is used a lot to describe an American political party but I'm not sure what one.

I view it as "popular interpretation as a group affiliated to using tea bags as a prop? " but when I used that term in another Forum far far away I was attacked viciously by Tea Partiers who view it in the derogatory vein. I have for the most part ceased using the term unless I am responding to a post where the author uses obviously derogatory terms such as Lib-tards' or Lib-turds' and that poster is of the TP variety. I think that the term Tea Bgger is a very decriptive term for those who have coopted the real Tea Party of the 18th century. Let's face reality if the majority of the people view Tea Bagger as an insulting term then the rest of us have no recourse but to understand it that way. It's as if we went back in time and tried to tell our great grand parents that gay does not mean happy or that 'fag' is not a falming torch we would not be looked upon as being of "right mind". . Words and their meaning change.

I don't use the term, just as I try to avoid using any term for someone when that someone doesn't like it. I think that sort of thing gets in the way of reasonable argument.
